Fowler crane engine "Duke of York" depicted in a typical 1930's industrial setting. The original measures 36" x 28" and the entire picture was drawn using 6B leads. I apply the graphite in a powder form with brushes as well as using normal leads in clutch type holders. I also use several different types of rubbers and put a great deal of emphasis on this - it is not all about putting graphite onto the paper, taking graphite off the paper is equally as important but it needs to be in a controlled way. Some of the effects that can be achieved, such as smoke and steam are wonderful using my methods.
